The MCU has another great tea-drinking European. Marvel just broke the news that actor Martin Freeman has joined the cast of Captain America: Civil War in an undisclosed role. He joins a cast that already includes Robert Downey Jr, Chris Evans, Chadwick Boseman, the new Spider-Man, and the kitchen sink.
At first I thought that Freeman might be playing the role of Henry Gyrich, a character who plays a US Government liaison to the Avengers (who has a role in Civil War), but a couple of tweets confirm that character is with Fox and the X-Men franchise – so I’m not 100% who Freeman will be playing here – but I would imagine it could be a politician of some sort. Although, if that’s the case, I’m curious as to why Marvel didn’t reveal the character name.
Regardless, Captain America: Civil War continues to grow and I’m curious to see how directors Joe and Anthony Russo will handle it all.
Set to release on May 6, 2016 – Captain America: Civil War will star Chris Evans, Robert Downey, Jr., Chadwick Boseman, Scarlett Johansson, Anthony Mackie, Sebastian Stan, Daniel Bruhl, Jeremy Renner and now Martin Freeman.
