Briefly: In case Robert Downey Jr’s Tony Stark, Chadwick Boseman’s Black Panther, and (probably) Spider-Man weren’t enough for you, The Hollywood Reporter confirmed that Jeremy Renner’s Hawkeye will be a part of Captain America: Civil War. Renner had previously hinted at his involvement in what might as well be called Avengers 2 and a half back in September.
This news should also put to rest any lingering doubts that our MCU Hawkguy wouldn’t make it out of Avengers: Age of Ultron alive. In fact, if that rumor is true, that fate will most likely befall the Hulk (as conventional wisdom says he’ll be shot into outerspace ala Planet Hulk – although Marvel has made it very clear they’ve no plans to make a direct adaptation of that storyline, nor will he likely appear in Guardians of the Galaxy 2 as director James Gunn has made it clear he wants Chris Pratt’s Peter Quill to be the only Earthbound character). Hawkeye’s inclusion is a welcome addition, especially considering many thought he’d be a no-brainer pick for Captain America: Winter Soldier.
Set to release on May 6, 2016 – Captain America: Civil War will star Chris Evans, Robert Downey, Jr., Chadwick Boseman, Scarlett Johansson, Anthony Mackie, Sebastian Stan, Daniel Bruhl and now Jeremy Renner.
