After lots of speculation, Warner Bros. has officially revealed the cast of David Ayer’s Suicide Squad. Brace yourselves, as there’s a lot of interesting casting here:
Jared Leto will play the Joker, Will Smith is Deadshot, Margot Robbie will take on Harley Quinn, Tom Hardy joins as Rick Flagg, Jai Courtney is Captain Boomerang and Cara Delevingne rounds out the cast as Enchantress.
The premise is similar to those familiar with the comic: Tom Hardy’s Flagg runs the group, made up of former villains, who get pardons in exchange for going on dangerous missions for the US government.
A couple of things here: DC is clearly not playing around when it comes to casting their movies with top-tier, A-list actors. Additionally, the characters assembled are a good mix of well established (Joker, Harley Quinn) and more obscure ones (the rest of the team), so there should be something for everyone. Regardless, it’s definitely safe to say that Warner Bros. has gathered an interesting cast to play some interesting characters and I’m very curious to see how it will all shake out.
Directed by David Ayer, Suicide Squad is set to release on August 5, 2016 and will be the second DCCU film after Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice.
