Briefly: As if Iron Man, Winter Soldier and Black Panther weren’t enough already, news broke this afternoon that actor Daniel Bruhl has landed an undisclosed role in Captain America: Civil War. Marvel’s press release states that Bruhl will bring his “ability to deliver intense, nuanced performances” to film. Deadline reports that he’s landed the role of the film’s villain. Perhaps we’ll finally see the return of the Red Skull’s conciseness, transferred to someone else (a la Alexander Lukin in the comics)? Or maybe this is something else completely. Who knows.
Bruhl is a great actor and his performance in last year’s Rush went largely unnoticed. However that won’t be an issue this time around, as Captain America: Civil War will thrust the actor onto an incredible stage. I’m glad more people will get to see him in action when the film releases on May 6, 2016.
