I could arguably say what we’re planning for the year 2021. Will that happen? I don’t know. But what we planned for 2015 in 2006 is happening.
That’s Marvel Studios’ Kevin Feige (from this Wired article) about the long term plans of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. We know that the studio has certainly things planned out into 2015 (Avengers: Age of Ultron and Ant-Man) but there’s still A LOT to suss out between now and 2021. We’ve certainly heard rumors of early Phase Three projects, but I would imagine in addition to potential film sequels, there’s some new IP scheduled.
I’ve always said that DC Entertainment certainly has their work cut out for them, especially when compared to what Marvel is doing. Another interesting bit the Wired piece highlights is the lack of a cinematic leader at DC. Feige is seemingly fearless and DC is lacking that kind of vision when it comes to thinking really long term with their properties.
Regardless, Marvel isn’t playing around with their movies and DC needs to be careful to make sure they’re up to snuff. Maybe DC needs to take a piece of advice from The Wire: if they’re coming at the King, they best not miss.
