Ed Brubaker Scripting TV Pilots for Fox, NBC

I didn’t want to use another picture of Brubaker himself so here is the cast of Gotham Central for your viewing pleasure.

This makes so much sense it’s sickening. After years of producing some of the finest TV dramas disguised of comic books, Ed Brubaker is bringing two pilots to the small screen. Variety reports that the Captain America scribe has set up two separate television projects at NBC and Fox, both sounding right in his tense and dramatic wheelhouse.

Rising Suns, the drama for Fox, will be written and executive produced by Brubaker along with Kyle Killen, who previous gave us Awake. The show will follow an American Yakuza who falls for the FBI agent who is pursuing him, while fighting to stay alive in the cutthroat world of organized crime.

The second pilot for NBC is a currently untitled spy drama, also written and executive produced by Brubaker, about an in training female agent who works alongside her agency’s cleanup crew during missions.

So, basically vintage Brubaker. These pilots are just the icing on the media cake for the former Daredevil writer who is still hip deep in the production of the film adaptation of his Criminal story arc “Coward”, of which he wrote the script and has David Slade (40 Days of Night and Hard Candy) attached to direct.

Is America ready for the grit and slick noir of Ed Brubaker? If not, they better get wise quick.
