Kelly Sue DeConnick is a busy, busy lady.

She’s just launched Captain Marvel to fan and critical acclaim, she is headlining the reboot of Ghost over at Dark Horse Comics, she JUST announced that she will be taking over Avengers Assemble, AND she’s got a creator owned series in the pipe at Image Comics with Emma Rios, for the love of Mike!

But yet, she is taking time out of her ever expanding dance card to bring Winter’s Tales to HeroesCon.

Winter’s Tales is a project started by DeConnick after a very enthusiastic and precious future geek named Winter approached her at this year’s HeroesCon announcing that she liked to draw ninjas. The precocious tot (dressed as Fiona from Adventure Time, no less) then declared that her and DeConnick should do a comic together, Kelly Sue handling the script and little Winter handling the art, and Kelly Sue DeConnick being the wonderful person that she is said yes.

But Kelly Sue wants YOU to join in as as well!

Here is the pitch for Winter’s Tales straight from Winter (via her father in an adorable e-mail):

The main story idea from Winter is that of a Ninja Princess and her
Cheerleader Friends joining forces with vampire ninjas to fight zombie
ninjas from invading her kingdom.

The princess also has a superhero friend named Rock, a female rock
star with pink and blonde hair who uses guitars, drum kits, flutes,
clarinets and an amp in battle.

Her other favorite things to draw include: Kittens especially ninja kittens, Puppies, Wolves, Robots, Fairies, Good & Evil witches (from the Winter’s Tales Tumblr)

In the months leading up to HeroesCon, DeConnick will tweet a panel description (follow her @KellySue), with the hashtag #winterstales. Kelly Sue DeConnick will then work Winter’s favorite things into a comic one panel at a time and, when completed, she will print the comic and sell it at HeroesCon with proceeds going to young Winter’s college fund.

DeConnick also invites everyone else to participate by just replying to the #winterstales tag with art of there own, assuring that this will be the most adorable thing in the world. People are also invited to participate via Tumblr, by following the Winter’s Tale blog linked above.
